Meet Jeriah and Kendra! He’s from Texas and she’s from Michigan. The stars aligned just right and they met when Kendra’s best friends married Jeriah’s brother. Both being in the wedding party, Jeriah was the lucky one to escort Kendra down the aisle. That day started these two on an amazing adventure. Fast forward 2 years and Now they are the ones about to walk the aisle. “Jeriah proposed in the most perfect, surprising way. I moved from Michigan not too long ago, where my parents and close friends still live. I went back for Christmas and Jeriah stayed here. Since dating we had never spent a Christmas together. My family has a tradition to open one Christmas present in Christmas eve. So after making our annual milkshakes and moving to the living room, it wasn’t unnatural that my mom handed me my one gift for the night. I immediately knew it was a book of some sort.
Well, I proceed to unwrap to find a beautiful journal on it. I loved it and said my thank you’s when I noticed there was writing already in the front. As I further discovered it was a note from Jeriah. I immediately teared up as the letter relived many moments of our past couple of years together. I flipped the page to continue reading and saw lyrics to a song he had written–something I had begged him to do while we dated!
Not even 10 seconds into reading the lyrics and who other than Jeriah walks around my parent’s kitchen corner playing and singing the words I was reading. Then, I lost it. I was not only shocked that he was in Michigan on Christmas eve when he was supposedly about to go to service with his family, but also at the fact that by this point…I knew why he was here. He sang and played and popped the question!
The night was so amazing! He coordinated months before over Skype with my parents about where he would hide his camera so my mom could attempt to capture and where my dad would put his guitar when he was ready to get down on one knee. We both value family greatly and so for him to allow my parents to witness this life changing moment meant so much as I know live my day to day life here, I am glad he included them. That was one SURPRISE I’ll never forget!”
The joy that radiates from them was so contagious and carried on through our whole session. We met up at Arbor Hills in Plano, Texas. The weather was perfect and the light was to die for. They were game for whatever ideas I threw out, never worrying about onlookers or even changing in the trees! Here are a few favorites!
